Hi. My name is Marcela Brina. I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but I currently live in Texas, USA. I am a Chemical Engineer and an origami enthusiast.
I started folding when I was a child and keep folding every so
often. A few years ago, I rediscovered origami. I started folding again, almost
every day, and even created my own models. Since then I have published an origami book and started a blog.
My origami teaching experience is limited only to the local origami group, but I look forward to learning from this forum and participating in the discussions.

My love for origami started as a child when I learned to fold a traditional boat, and later I figured out how to fold a crane. It lay dormant since that time until one cold night in December of 1989 in New York City. My husband and I strolled by the office of Japan Airlines on fifth avenue. There was a Christmas tree four times as tall as me, rotating slowly and displaying all sort of origami models. I was immediately enchanted as the magic of childhood was there, in front of my eyes. My passion for origami has been growing ever since.

Since 1994 I have been a member of Origami USA . Presently, I keep a blog and website,, and make video tutorials on origami. I'm also a freelancer writer and illustrator. For a few years I have been working on a project sponsored by the US Department of Education, to give blind people access to TV educational programs. I write descriptions to be inserted as secondary audio in educational programs such as BBC documentaries, so that more context is added for blind people to understand those programs. My past personal projects include writing and illustrating books for children. I have also worked in many K-12 bilingual (English-Spanish) curriculum projects for book publishing houses in the US.

I love teaching origami, and hopefully will find the time to participate in this forum.
