About the cube from playing card, you can also find it in the second swedish editon (1883) titled "Vetenskapliga tidsfördrif" of "Les récréations scientifiques" by Gaston Tissandier witch seem to the translation of the third french edition as mentioned by Juan Gimeno. About the monk (from a playing card and with a cut), you can find it in "Jeux et jouets du jeune âge" by Gaston Tissandier (text) and Albert Tissandier (drawing). The book was edited by G. Masson (Paris) in 1885.
